Throughout the film the character will be in a state of panic, and fear. During her nightmare she will be in fear due to all the aspects of horror, darkness, the colors, and the setting. Towards the end of film we will see the girl waking up from her nightmare and finally being in a calm state of mind, and relaxed after a stressful and horrific night. As we see there is not much of character development durning the film but there is a change of mood and state of mind in the character.
Costume- the costumes for this film are going to be mainly focused around dark colors such as, black grey, burgundy and brown. The costumes are not a big part of the film but it keeps the aspect of horror and a dark vibe with the color scheme. The type of costumes I want for this film is loosely based around the gothic vibe, I will use some examples of this for the costumes. I also will use jewelry that stands out like chains, and rings that can give out the same dark gothic vibe. At the end of the film when the girl wakes up the vibe that I want to give off is a normal teenage girl, so the costumes will be a basic pajamas that will give off a soft and calm vibe.
Props- The props that will be used in this film will give off a threatening vibe, such as a knife or another sharp object that could be harmful to her. This is what’s going to bring the horror aspect of the film together. In one of the clips I am planing to shoot it will be a small showing of a bloody knife
The audio for this film opening is the main focus, and a key concept to add the horror feeling. The audio that I am planning to use is to create a creepy and suspenseful mood in the film. An example of the audio I would like to use is from the film longlegs, the audio used in this film creates a deeper feeling as to what is going on and creates suspense and fear. As the film goes on the sound will get louder till she wakes up from the nightmare, this is a small detail that is used frequently in horror films to add more of the horror mood. Towards the end of the film opening as she is waking up from the nightmare there will a faint sound of an alarm going off, this shows the viewers that she was asleep and makes the scene come to life and creates an understanding.
Ex) This is a type of sound I would use for the end of the film opening to indicate she is waking up from her nightmare.
Ex 2) I take inspiration from the audio in this film because it added a grave detail to the mood of the film and the feeling of the film. It was a big part in the scenes that where suspenseful and overall added a lot of benefits to the film.
setting - the set will vary throughout the film opening. The set is a big part to the film because it is what adds the sense of horror. I am planning to have the sets in dark outdoor places, that creates fear for the viewers. The main idea of the sets based outside is to show that she dose not know where she is, and it is going to be difficult to identify from small showings in her dream. The setting will interact with the character by being unfamiliar to her so it adds fear and confusion. It will create more feeling and visuals to the film opening.
setting 2- At the end of the film the girl wakes up in her bedroom, the idea for this set is a normal room for a teen girl. Slightly decorated, clean, lived in. The room being decorated will show the viewers a small look into her life. What she likes and what her interest are. But it will also add confusion to why a normal girl living a normal life is having such a dream.
Lighting- Lighting is another big part of the film opening. When outdoors the lighting is going to be dark and mainly sourced by the moon. It is very important to keep the dark theme and not overdue the lighting, to keep the horror and chilling feeling. When she wakes up from her nightmare the lighting is going to loud. The sunlight blaring through the windows, and shining on her face. This also adds the the confusion and creates normal again.
EX) - this is an example of what setting I would take ideas from for my film opening because it adds the feeling of horror or darkness. It has a chilling look to it and is not an easy place to identify.
EX 2) - Another example I take an inspiration to for my film is this image. It has the same look and feeling I am looking for and creates the theme for the film opening.
EX 3) - This is an idea of the room setting I am taking inspiration from. It is simple but shows some decoration and creates a normal theme for the last bit of the film opening.
My project idea is based on a girl who is having a nightmare. In her nightmare she is in a dark place that she has never seen before. Her vision keeps cutting out and goes black changing what she sees each time leaving her nightmare incomplete. She wakes up from her nightmare to an alarm frantically and unsure of what the nightmare ment. The theme for the film opening is a dark ascetic, giving a more chilling feeling while watching.
Shots/composition/ movement used
In the film opening I am planing to use long shots, to show the full surroundings of where she is in her nightmare and what she is seeing. I would also use deep focus to make the nightmare seem more clear and vivid. Focus pulls are going to be used a lot when her vision goes black and changes to a different setting. The shot that will be used when she wakes up is a close up of her eyes to show the fear coused from the nightmare. Other shots will be disrupted throughout the film but these are some for the general idea of what is going to be seen in the film.
During my group meeting I got to communicate with other peers in my class and discuss our film openings. We spoke about my idea and what I can improve and what is not needed. This helped a lot with creating a more complex idea of what i am going to produce and helped the development of the film opening. Speaking with new people and listening to what they have to say and what they are creating inspired me and I value the opinions of others and the group meeting gave me an opportunity to hear what other people think of my film opening so far. I think that meeting with groups and discussing with other people is a very much needed activity to make the best production possible and it creates a lot of inspiration and creativity.
Meeting in groups also allowed us to hear other people’s film openings and see what they have come up with. It was a wonderful learning experience and it was great to help out others with what they can do better and what is best for their projects.
2/3-2/9 finalize the genre of the film opening, start creating the plan , and create a mood board of examples, themes, music, costumes, and makeup that I would like to use in my film.
2/10-2/16 I will meet with teacher and discuss the film and get all ideas into one, and create the story board and the script for the film.
2/17-2/23 Get together all the costumes and props needed for film, Get all the music downloaded and ready, if possible and everything is order I will start to film.
2/24-3/2 Finalize planning completely, and start the filming process.

3/16-3/22 Finalize editing and make sure the film opening is perfected, and make sure no mistakes occur.
The credit sequence for scream includes the most important and main characters in the film. It includes Jenna Ortega, Cortney Coxs, Mikey Madison, Melissa Barrer, Dylan Minnette, and others . The sequence includes pictures of the actors which creates more of an understanding of who is playing each character and gives more credit to those who deserve it. As a viewer it is a good sequel to watch due to the pictures provided and names which is a great way to engage and fully appreciate the actors. This is a good way to tie up a film and get the last bit of engagement from the viewers.

47 Meters down uncaged
This credit sequence occurs at the very beginning and it is a showing of the caves that appear in the movie. The sequence includes the costume designers, directors, casting agents, visual effects supervisor, who the music is by, hair and makeup designer, costume designer, editor, production designer, director of photography, co producer, and executive producers. The credit sequence appearing at the beginning of the movie is another great way to gain engagement, the viewers get to see a preview of what the caves look like and what the setting of the movie might be. We viewers also get to see who helped make this film come to life before watching it. It is great to see how many people worked hands on in the production of a film and this also creates appreciation for those who did work on the movie and we viewers get to see what they created straight after. The credit sequence had a great transition into the movie opening scene with kept me engaged and more intrigued in the movie.
-ex) A screen shot of what the credit sequence
Bird box
In Bird box the credit sequence is placed in the end of the movie. This sequence is more on the basic side and dose not include pictures or visuals. The sequence includes, director, screenplay, the novel writer the movie was based on, producers, executive producers, director of photography, production designer, editor, costume designer, who the music was by, second unit director, visual effects supervisor, associate producers, casting directors, and lastly list the main actors. Even though this credit sequence is not like the others and includes engaging visuals but it still grabs the attention of the viewers. The sequence shows all the people that contributed to the film and adds a meaning to the movie. In my opinion I would have made the sequence more engaging like the others so the viewers are more interested in watching it.
don't move was a movie released in 2024 and its about a mother who has recently lost her child and is grieving, the film opens up with a view of Iris (the mom) home and it is indicating the calm before the storm. Her home is right on the beach and gives a scenes of peace before the tragic events take place.
Analyze
the opening scene shows that Iris is not happy with her life and is visibly sad laying awake in her bed and we see her home and that gives us an inside view of where she lives and what the setting is. She enters an empty room with a baby crib in it, this indicates a reason to why iris is sad. We can see that she is unhappy with her life as she picked up a knife from her kitchen draw. After we see her home it cuts to a scene of her driving.
